This site is meant to facilitate the upward flow of information to help our elected officials stay in touch with those they represent. Also as a means to help us (the voters) help our leaders lead.

I'm Going
I’m Going
A reported million Americans showed up April 15th for a general protest. There were all types of individuals, all sorts of groups. The one overriding thing I thought they came with was a feeling of "Enough is Enough", and a sense of hopelessness along with a desire not to be.
I think they, and I know myself, came away with a feeling that we were not alone. We were not what all the media was calling us; selfish, racist, unpatriotic, and not willing to sacrifice for the common good. Enough what? Well I guess you can figure it out according to your own lights.
Government’s encroachment upon everyone’s lives and freedom is my “Enough”. What’s your’s?
The whole idea that it was ok to be pissed off was empowering. Pardon my language.
Well the 15th has come and gone. The angst has not. People are forming small groups trying to refigure what we used to know. How do we get re-involved in our government? How can we the people reassert our voice? We want change. We want that feeling from the 15th to permeate our lives.
I get emails from Rasmussen. In each email there are several of their findings, and the one below struck a chord.

The quote that hit a nerve was the following;
----quote from email------
For nearly four-out-of-five U.S. voters, the problem is not their unwillingness to pay taxes. It’s their elected representatives’ refusal to cut the size of government.
Seventy-seven percent (77%) of voters say the bigger problem in the United States is the unwillingness of politicians to control government spending. Just 14% say the problem is that voters are unwilling to pay enough in taxes, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey

From the same email is this comment on their findings.

The main point of this blog is to show that the “Tea Party” Angst is about the frustration of the people being steam rolled by the “Political Class”. I feel Big Business, and Big Labor have jumped into bed with Big Government as glaringly evidenced by the plans for GM; but whatever the case, the voice of the people as evidenced by the Rasmussem polls is not being taken into account.
I see this dissing of the general public up and down the political ladder and it bothers me. Even at the county level I pick up the idea that the public mood has to be manipulated rather than facilitated.
That however, is “We the People’s” fault for allowing it to happen. That is my fault. Politicians “for the most part” are just human. Lol. If we get together and start to demand our rights, the politicians “for the most part” will begin to listen.
Joshua at MuskegonPatriots.com is trying to show a way at the county government level. This is a trial run, with meetings weekly to start to try to channel the angst.

This is an all day affair, actually two if you include the Meet and Greet Friday for those who want to get there a day early; for networking and socializing not a necessary part of the program. Hope I said that ok. Lol.
Anyway below is a link to the site. Be sure to not miss the buttons at the very top.

Like my title says, I’m going. Jack McHugh and others from Mac Center will be there along with plenty of good speakers and workshops to help us organize ourselves; enough to force the “for the most part” politicians to listen to us.
I’m amazed at the resources we in Michigan have and are building upon. The Mackinac Center is a jewel of an organization. Not only are they the premier research center in the state for the promotion of free market issues; they are a driving force helping to create the tools that we need in organizing the angst that is out there.
Right Michigan has helped to organize the blogosphere in Michigan. Right Michigan has become a portal for the Right to the new media in Michigan. Nick runs the Premier Center Right political blog in the State.
For years (seemingly forever) the right has had the better ideas and could win most policy arguments. However, we could not translate that into the popular media. Now we are finding and pioneering new ways to get our message out into the public domain. Those ways are starting to work.
Through the Mac Center and Right Michigan locally; and Fox, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post nationally, we are now able to start to make a dent in the liberal monopolistic control of the media. Through sites such as Breitbart and Big Hollywood; inroads can be seen in the pop culture.
Mac Center just put out the press release linked below. They came up with the idea of putting the check registers of public schools on line for all to see in an effort to increase transparency. They have been pushing this relentlessly and making progress. Now they say one in six students have their school’s checkbook on line.

So the whole question of whether all this protesting is worth it, can it possibly make a difference —- well you make up your own mind. If you want some freedom to choose which answer --- well join me in Lansing. I and another blogger friend (I think) are driving from Muskegon.
I’m going, and I’m going to do what I can to make the answer to the question of whether it’s worth it a resounding YES!
